Apple is HBO Now's exclusive partner, lowers price of Apple TV

HBO joined Apple on stage in San Francisco on Monday to announce its new standalone service, HBO Now. It will be available in early April for $14.99 a month.


HBO Now is HBO's stand-alone live, streaming service. For the first time, viewers can enjoy live and on-demand HBO content without a cable subscription. It will be exclusive to Apple devices, including the Apple TV, said HBO's CEO Richard Plepler. And speaking of the Apple TV, Apple is lowering the price of the device from $99 to $69, down from $99.



Signing an exclusive partnership with Apple is a bold move is a bold move for HBO because it is essentially coupling its pure online service with living room platform. Conversely, HBO made its HBO Go service available to nearly a dozen different set-top device makers. Read more...
