Sony is acquiring the assets and patents of game streaming platform OnLive to bolster its own streaming efforts on the PlayStation console family, OnLive announced Thursday afternoon.
That means April 30 will be the final curtain call for OnLive, which has had a troubled history and tried to restart its services in 2014.
Sony is acquiring "various assets," according to OnLive's announcement, including all of the company's 140 U.S. and foreign patents for streaming services. The company did not disclose transaction figures, and didn't comment if any staff were included in the acquisition. Read more...
