Google kicks off its developers conference, Google I/O, at 9 a.m. Pacific on Wednesday with a keynote that's sure to be jam-packed with newsMashable will be reporting the news live from the Moscone Center in San Francisco right here.
According to Google, this year's conference focuses on three D's: Design, Develop and Distribute. While that's somewhat vague, the last "D" hints that Google has more places in mind for apps than just Google Play and the Chrome Web Store.
Google is offering developers fewer sessions than in previous years (just 80, over two days), with some of them dedicated to adapting apps for wearables and the company's Chromecast device. And just before the conference, Google-owned Nest opened its smart thermostat up to developers. Clearly, extending apps to new and emerging platforms will be a theme. Read more...
